Use common sense when posting or using the Chatbox.

As long as you do that much, you should have no problems.

The only exception to the rule is use of profanity. This is a Writer's Craft course, and writing can be enhanced by acceptable use of profanity, depending on the setting of the peice, and the characters. Please use at your own discresion, and with due consideration as to the possible negative effects of using profanity. (This is not a right- it can be revoked at any time if things get out of hand.)

IF PROFANITY IS USED TO DEFACE OR OTHERWISE HURT THE IMAGE OF A LIVING PERSON, OR IS DEEMED AS AN INTENTIONAL ATTACK AGAINST ANOTHER PERSON, RACE, ETHNIC GROUP, ESTABLISHMENT, ETC, ACTION WILL BE TAKEN.

On the same note, please be aware of the question of religious content. The world is a large place, with a wide range of beliefs. Unless a religious topic is relevant to your post/submission, please refrain from mentioning it- you never know when you might go over the line. (For example, while I don't take offence to people talking religion around me, if they try to get me involved to take sides, I consider that incredibly offensive, on more then just a religious level. You can be religious. You can talk religion in a post if it is relevant, but if there are theories that provide a different viewpoint on the same issue, such as the debate between Evolutionism and Creationism, please refrain from treating any single theory as an established fact, unless it is from the viewpoint of a character whose world views reflect that belief. This is simply taken as due consideration for the views of different people. It is not meant as a personal denial, or as an intentional hinderance.)

And one last tidbit- don't use this site just as an excuse to slam out profanity in the clomputer lab or library- that's just not right.

Avatar/Signature Rules:

Again, common sense is paramount. If you wouldn't shove it in the face of your (pick all that apply): Teacher/Mother/Grandmother/Little Sister/Parole Officer/Customer, then it probably shouldn't be here, either. As with host site rules, as well as image hosting site rules, there are some pretty obvious no-go's.

To quote servimg.com, an image hosting site linked directly to Forumotion (this forum's host site):

Quote :
Don't upload anything that can be even remotely construed as illegal, pornographic, copyrighted, harassment, or spam. If you do, we will ban you, delete all your images, and report you to the proper authorities (if necessary).

So just don't, a'ight? silent

As well, don't abuse servimg.com- it is not blocked by the firewall, and there is no good reason to block it, so long as we all follow the rules. So long as you're using it to upload an image file for posting or use as an Avatar or in your signature, it is considerd using it for school purposes. However, uploading five hundred pictures and spending two hours making a signature at school is not, so if you really want to play around with your signature, do it at home, or better yet, plan it out. Iif you're having image problems, try using a different hoster- if it still persists (i.e. you still can't see the image behind the school's firewall) find the image again on Google if you found it there first, hit the link to see just the picture on a blank webpage- and then use that link to try hosting the image. You can also try to put the link- all of it- between [img] and [ /img] tags. (proper format for closing img tags is [/img] Alternately, hit the button that looks like a picture of a tree twice, and paste the URL between them.)

Please remember that Avatars and Signatures can be edited by Admins!

If you have ideas of rules, feel free to share them. We've got a perfect track record (Zero incidents out of three days in operation- I love technical loopholes!) so for now we've got essentially 100% freedom until someone does something that someone or multiple someones deem as wrong. Remember, rules are only there because someone did something that gave birth to the rule. Usually this is something bad, making a rule for future refrence, but nobody said we can't be like the Europeans and act preemptively!

Well, keep it low until someone starts complaining. I know no hardcore military man is complete without a little attitude.

Granted, I could just as easily counter by asking 'define swearing' and then disagreeing with a lot of them. Sure, I'd still go about dropping their respective bombs elsewhere, but only because trying to introduce a new set of equally arbitrary words would be tough.

Herp derp, I love confusing the heck out of little kids by calling things by any name I want, and showing them just how stupidly arbitrary language is.

"That's a tree"
"No; it's qwertyidus."
"What's that?"
"What you pointed at, of course."
And so on and so forth. Razz
