I'll Listen

This is a short poem that I just put together right now. It's a bit personal, but I decided I'd share it anyways. I'm trying to teach myself that it's okay to share your poetry, (usually I don't like to) so I'm making myself share this one I wrote. xD

anyways...


You welcome me
into your well twisted web
stringed together
by movies, books, and music.
Spun by your many interests
and opinions.
I stop
to listen.

I guess I don’t mind, after all.
Never mind your Y chromosome.

My skin covers the thoughts
and secrets in your head
that you trust me with.
I never think to pass judgement
in more then a friendly, joking sort of way.
If the speech has flaws
I refuse to dwell on them.
I’ll inhale in every word you say.
I’ll carry them with me every day
buried deep
under the surface.
And continue to listen.

You will grow up
and land a successful career.
Snatch that beautiful bride
and raise kids through the years.
A life you want.
I can’t blame you.

Words of the tongue
can easily lie
but the heart knows what it says.
You will never hear my heart speak.

But if you happen
to still need me,
I know
I’ll still be there.

To stop
and
listen.

That's a really nice poem and you're right it is easy for words to lie, but sooner or later the truth comes out.

It's nice to find a person who is always willing to stop and listen no matter waht they're doing. To find a person like that is lucky, to be a person like that is even luckier.
