Watch out for my ego on the way in! :P

I have some sonnets here, and I figured this was the place to put them. They are all shakespearean sonnets written in iambic pentameter, with the exception of "Time Stopper"; it is altered with the last bracketed couplet pieces. I'll make new posts after the first sonnet, makes it look cleaner/better imo.

(note these were written at an earlier date for other reasons, one was for literature studies, the others were inspiration etc.)

Set In Bone

Before my beginning there is a writ.
Not printed, parch’d, or carved into a stone.
Not something you may read whilst here you sit,
But there it is, etched just inside the bone.

It boldly cries out that life is the first,
That life succeeds all things, perhaps a god.
Read through it though, there lies a tale of worst,
A rotten story that is much more broad.

Life lies to us to trick us into fate,
Not fib, but sin, that binds us to its will.
Mother to us, weaving out its green gate,
Life’s roots, enticing, strangling babe still.

Before life there is Death and his blank stare,
He never blinks, because he does not share.

(lol total misogyny, don't shoot me :3)

Just a Rumor

You caught a thief today, you heard him creep,
His crime unknown to you, yet you arrest.
Night watch were you, despite the look of sleep,
His most feared enemy awake in nest.

Should you receive a robe and a gavel?
No need it seems, a gown would do just fine.
Why a gavel when your laugh will travel,
And judge his person with your eyes that shine.

The sentencing will not come ‘til the morn,
When you meet panel and perform the rite.
Your friends loom over him, he wish’d not born,
The sonic axe that executes his might.

Courage is lost in whispers for the worse,
Boldness useless against a woman’s curse.

As was said, originally had the bracketed lines, remove for a more "true" shakespearean sonnet :|

Time Stopper

Every day I hear the battle call,
The rude awakening starts my morning.
I rise to fight, with all my strength to crawl,
My foe just rings its sinister scorning.

Every eve I challenge it again,
With newfound hopes and resolve at my side.
It smiles at me, its only question-when?
Accepting once more, it laughs at my pride.

Every night it watches as I sleep,
Cold calculating eyes shine in the Nox.
The time arrives, its promise it will keep,
Hatred exudes as I battle the box.

(Time starts when I accept another loss,)
Even if I were to win, I still fail.
(I rely on shortcoming as its boss,)
The alarm clock stops time to no avail.

This was the one for literature studies with McP, for an old english Beowulf study/poem/thing.

Throne of Despair

Here sits a man, troubled in his kingdom,
And sits upon four legs of holy peace.
For he may not know where the beast comes from,
But in reach of the throne Grendel will cease.

What protection is this from his God though?
No blood, but vulnerable of the mind.
Not Hrothgar, but Grendel that rules in woe,
No survivors but those who flee behind.

The throne is protected by the high Lord,
The throne is watched by the twin-horned devil.
Councilmen talk of old magic and sword,
The chair sits, while men sink Grendel’s level.

To let them suffer one would think it odd,
But there is none as cruel as the one God.

If you need to look this up, you don't play video games...

Storm, Earth and Fire, heed my call....

I am the son of The Wind and Rain, Thunder beckons and I heed the call,
If I die upon this day, in battle I will fall...
Hear me Brothers, gather up the wolves to battle we will ride.
War drums echo the beating heart, pounding from inside.

Storm, Black clouds fill the sky
Earth, I hear my battlecry
Fire, and Thunder will bring more
Death, from the power of the Horde...

Farseer to the Warsong Clan
To no men will I kneal
Feel the power and the energy, born of black blood, honour and steell
Feel the Fire burning in my veins, lightning strikes at my command
By Storm and Earth, Axe and Fire, we come to claim this land

Storm, Black clouds fill the sky
Earth, I hear my battlecry
Fire, and Thunder will bring more
Death, from the power of the Horde...

Surrounded by the enemy,
the wolf among the hounds
Thunder turns to silence, sek-ta
the hundred to bring me down.

Wolf Brothers falling at my side,
with honour I will die
Upon the Altar of the Storms,
I will be reborn

Storm, Black clouds fill the sky
Earth, I hear my battlecry
Fire, and Thunder will bring more
Death, for I have been reborn...

STORM!!
EARTH!!
FIRE!!
DEATH!!
The Power of the Horde...

Very nice, I wanted to yell WAAAGH! at the end, but that's more warhammer lol. Very empowering if the reader knows about the vidya, at least it was for me.
